OptiBind Polystyrene microparticles

OptiBind microparticles are a suspension of 0.1 - 1.0 mm hydrophobic polystyrene (PS) white microparticles ideal for the adsorption of proteins for use in a wide variety of in vitro diagnostics and research applications.

OptiBind PS microparticles can be used directly from the bottle without any pre-cleaning for most applications as the production of OptiBind PS microparticles does not utilize common surfactants (SDS, Tween 20, Triton X-100) that may remove proteins from the particle surface. The proprietary anionic surfactant used in the manufacture of OptiBind PS microparticles does not interfere with particle protein binding or cause proteins to desorb from the microparticle surface. The seeded emulsion polymerization process employed in the manufacture of OptiBind PS microparticles produces particles of high molecular weight ensuring stability and rigidity. Polystyrene surfaces are very hydrophobic and adsorb proteins almost instantaneously. OptiBind microparticles have been optimized for maximum reactivity in many diagnostic applications. The particles have a very tight size distribution with a CV of only 2% ensuring simultaneous reaction kinetics.

OptiBind PS microparticles are ideal for incorporation within slide agglutination tests for diagnostic, industrial or research applications, turbidimetric assays and chemiluminescent tests. Standard packaging is 15 mL, 100 mL and 1000 mL at 10% solids.

OptiLink Carboxylate-Modified Microparticles

OptiLink CM microparticles are a suspension of 0.1 - 1.0 mm carboxylate-modified (CM) white microparticles designed to allow easy one-step covalent coupling protocols, providing maximum reactivity in diagnostics applications. Recent studies have demonstrated that microparticle carboxyl content can make a significant difference in final microparticle reagent sensitivity, specificity and stability. The multiple acid content within the OptiLink CM product line allows you to control these important parameters as with OptiLink CM microparticles you can choose between multiple acid contents to optimize your assay. OptiLink Particle Technical Details

Parking Area
The surface area per gram of a microparticle varies inversely with the particle diameter. Acid content refers to the titrated milliequivalents per gram (meq/g) and is weight-based. Parking Area combines acid content and surface area to give you the surface acid distribution which is useful for assay optimization.

Power-Bind Streptavidin Microparticles

The Power-Bind Streptavidin Coated (SA-MP) nonmagnetic microparticles are monodisperse suspensions made from OptiLink CM particles with streptavidin covalently bound to the surface in a highly active form. Possessing an extremely stable shelf life and a very high biotin binding capacity, these robust particles are excellent for immunoassay or sample preparation applications. They can be used to bind a variety of biotinylated ligands such as DNA/RNA, antibodies and proteins.

Standard protocols are available to biotinylate a wide range of analytes including proteins, nucleic acids and haptens. Streptavidin also functions as a spacer which improves the specific activity of the bound ligand. Power-Bind SA-MP microparticles are available in 0.3 mm and 1.0 mm diameter formats allowing the right particle to be chosen for your specific application. Standard packaging is 15 mL, 100 mL and 1000 mL at 10% solids.
